To have a good compost, it is essential to have healthy bacteria and to do so a well aerated environment in which bacteria can thrive is imperative.

The Air-Compost has been designed to encourage air flow around the walls, through the various holes on the tip of each cone, but also through the unique air tube on the base. This air tube allows air to flow under the compost.
These elements will help the compost rot and create quality compost very quickly.

Compost created with the Air-Compost only needs to be mixed occasionally!

How to make compost?

First of all, you have to understand what makes a good compost mixture, to do so three important bases:
Green material (source of nitrogen):
Grass clippings and young herbs
Uncooked fruit and vegetable peels
Coffee grounds and tea bags
Brown material (carbon source):
Fall leaves, hay, straw, shredded paper
Wood chips
Cardboard and plain paper (ideally shredded)
Other material:
Wood ashes, egg shells, natural wool or cotton fibers.

Now you can get started with the composition of your compost:
First place a layer of brown material at the bottom of the Air-Compost, then a layer of green material and mix lightly.
Be sure to add microorganisms as well to speed up the composting process.
Once the Compost-Air is full and different layers of material have been put in, cover it with the lid provided.
Be sure to check the moisture content and add water if necessary. Too much water creates a soggy mixture, and too much air dries out the materials.
Remember to check the air tube at the bottom for debris for optimal aeration.

Good compost is crumbly with a sweet soil smell.
Good compost improves soil structure and increases water retention.
