How to use Platinium X-Plugs?
Water the plugs well until they drain excess water.
X-Plugs will retain the water they need for optimum moisture levels and air/water ratio.
The use of a greenhouse type propagator Propagator is essential to the success of your cutting and/or germination.
Each X-Plug contains a basic fertilizer for the first 2-3 weeks, after which you will need to add fertilizers.
Optimal growing conditions:
Light: no or little, wide spectrum, gradual increase of light input after the first root appears.
Temperature: 20-22°C
Humidity: 80-100%
Proceed with the cuttings:
Platinium recommends the use of a cutting stimulator to stimulate rooting and success of the cuttings.
- Cut diagonally under the bulge of a node or stem. Remove all but a few leaves.
- Soak the stem in water cutting stimulator.
- Insert the cutting into the X-Plug. Be sure to insert it deep enough, all the way to the bottom of the plug.
- Put the tray of X-Plugs in a propagator (e.g, propagator greenhouse), close the propagator lid and all air vents. Closing the lid and air vents will keep the moisture in the system.
Make sure the tray with the X-Plugs is able to completely drain excess water at all times, so that the X-Plugs can always self-regulate the right amount of moisture.
Recommendations:
The X-Plug should not be bathed directly in water, but until the first roots appear, the X-Plugs should remain fairly moist.
When the cutting is well rooted, you can open the propagator cover completely or move the X-Plugs into your growing space.
Proceed with the seeds:
The use of embedding powder Dynamite Seeds is recommended for best success of your seedlings.
- Place the seed in the X-Plugs, without pushing it too deeply. If needed, you can break off a small piece (corner) of the X-Plugs , no more than 5mm, to cover the seed.
- Spray the plug with a little water, to make sure the seed is wet.
- Put the tray of X-Plugs in a propagator, close the propagator lid and all air vents.
Recommendations:
The X-Plug should not be bathed directly in water, but until the first roots appear, the X-Plugs should be kept fairly moist. Indeed, a lack of moisture can cause rapid dehydration, and harm the germination of your seeds.
