Cornflower seeds - La Semence Bio
Cornflower, scientifically known as Centaurea cyanus, belongs to the Asteraceae family. Often considered a weed of cereal fields, it is also known as Harvest Blueberry. This annual plant has grayish-green stems, lanceolate leaves and flowers ranging in hue from blue to purple or even white.
Cornflower is versatile, finding applications in pharmacology and cosmetology. What's more, its flowers are edible, adding a culinary dimension to its many uses.
For optimum growth, choose soil rich in organic matter and well exposed to sunlight. Sow at a depth of 2 cm, either from September to late November or from March to late June. Seed emergence takes just 8 days in soil kept at 18°C. Cornflowers flower from June to the end of September.
