Description: The green celery stick from Elne has a stocky foliage of 50 to 55 cm high with thick, smooth, long and dark green ribs. This variety presents a set of remarkable aromatic notes.

Growing Guide

Soil care: deep, rich, moist soil.

Sowing: 1 cm deep in the nursery, transplant at the 6 leaf stage, 50 cm between plants and rows.

Emergence: in 6 to 9 days in soil at 22°C.

Watering: water frequently and copiously.

Harvest: cut as needed the leaves at ground level.

Storage: pulled out with its roots, ribbed celery can be stored for a few weeks in a cellar.

Origin : native to the Mediterranean, celery was not considered a vegetable, but a medicinal plant, until the Renaissance.

Advice from La Semence Bio® : for a regular and homogeneous emergence, make sure not to expose your seedlings to direct sunlight, prefer a slightly shaded place. Shorten the leaves when transplanting.

In the kitchen

Cook raw or cooked. Peel the threads of the ribs. The leaves flavour broths and simmered dishes. Very low in calories, rich in fiber, source of vitamin B9 and provitamin A.
