Product details
Marmande tomato seeds
The Marmande tomato, originally from the foothills of the Andes, was introduced to French kitchen gardens in the 18th century. This variety, known by its scientific name Lycopersicon esculentum L., has distinctive characteristics that make it a popular choice for gardens.
Marmande is distinguished by its bright red color, flattened shape, pronounced ribs, firmness and light green collar. Very popular, it offers exceptional flavor and reaches a weight of 180 g. A remarkable feature of Marmande is its ability to knot even at low temperatures.
To ensure optimum growth of Marmande tomatoes, follow these soil preparation recommendations: opt for fresh, potassium-rich soil. Smoke the soil in autumn to ensure an adequate nutrient base. Sunny exposure and regular watering are also essential.
Sow Marmande from February to May, 1 cm deep in a terrine. Transplant the seedlings 8 weeks after sowing, burying them 2 cm below the collar. Use stakes before planting to support plant growth. The recommended planting density is 45 x 75 cm.
Seed emergence takes 8-10 days in soil maintained at 18°C. Marmande tomatoes are harvested from July to the end of October, so you can enjoy their delicious fruit all season long.
