Product details
The finest of all is the Italian zucchini: Coucourzelle!
The Coucourzelle zucchini, a traditional non-runner variety, offers elongated, dark-green fruits, mottled with light green, to be eaten young. Here's how to grow it successfully:
Sowing:
Sow in April, in pots in a light location with a minimum temperature of 12°C. Place the seeds on edge and take care to keep the potting soil moist but not excessively so.
Keep the cups near a light source to encourage germination.
Growing :
Transplant to a sunny spot in mid-May, leaving 1 m between each plant for non-running varieties. Remember to water regularly and add compost.
Stimulate development by pinching stems, hoeing and weeding as required. Use mulch to limit weeds and preserve humidity.
Water at the base in summer without wetting the foliage to avoid disease.
Favorable combinations :
Avoid planting near potatoes, but zucchini will appreciate proximity to beans and cabbage.
Common problems :
Non-flowering or non-fruiting may be due to hot weather or lack of pollination. Attract pollinators by sowing floral mixes.
Harvesting :
Harvest around 2 months after sowing. Young zucchini will be less bitter than larger ones.
