Product details
Scarlet pumpkin tomato: a late variety with large, yellow-red fruits
The scarlet pumpkin tomato is a late variety that produces large fruits weighing around 450 grams. Their dense, tangy and very fragrant flesh makes them a delight to eat, especially as a stuffed tomato. The bicolored yellow and red fruits are a real curiosity in your kitchen garden, offering a unique taste experience.
Sowing and growing the scarlet pumpkin tomato
Sow from February to April in warm soil or in pots, in fine compost. Maintain a constant temperature of at least 20°C for good germination. Transplant when plants reach 12 to 15 cm, in rich, well-drained soil in a sunny spot.
Managing tomato plants
Pruning tomato plants is an optional practice. It aims to increase fruit size and earliness. However, it requires time and discernment. You can choose not to prune at all, to prune regularly or to adopt a two-strand pruning system.
Harvesting and pests
Scarlet pumpkin tomatoes can be harvested around 4 to 5 months after sowing. Be sure to keep an eye out for potential enemies such as mildew and apical necrosis, and take the necessary steps to prevent them, such as plant protection and regular watering.
