Tomate Voyage: a voyage of flavors in your vegetable garden
Add a touch of wonder to your vegetable garden with the Voyage tomato. This early, productive variety offers small fruits, but its exceptional taste makes it an unforgettable experience for the taste buds.
The Voyage tomato is a stunning variety, offering fruits weighing around 100 g. Their flesh is thick, juicy and incredibly sweet, offering an explosion of flavor with every bite. Whether you eat them nature or in a salad, their fragrance and flavor will help you rediscover the true pleasure of taste.
Sowing and planting
Sowing: From February to April, sow on a warm bed (at around 20°C) or in pots indoors or in a heated greenhouse. The seeds should be buried about 1 cm deep in fine sowing compost. Keep the soil moist, but avoid overwatering.
Transplanting: Once the plants have reached a height of 12-15 cm and there is no risk of frost, transplant them into the ground. The recommended spacing is around 70 cm between rows and 50 cm along the row, in rich, loose, well-drained soil. Be sure to install stakes before planting to support plant growth.
Plant pruning
The question of whether to remove gourmands from tomato plants divides gardeners. Here are a few options:
Pruning by dripping: This can increase fruit size and make harvesting easier, but it is time-consuming and can result in injury to the plant.
No pruning at all: Allows the plant to grow freely, but requires more space and can result in smaller but more numerous fruit.
Two-strand pruning: Keep two main branches and remove the gourmands. This provides a good compromise between fruit size and productivity.
Harvest
Voyage tomatoes can be harvested around 4-5 months after sowing. Wait until they reach full maturity to enjoy their full flavor.
Enemies and solutions
The main problems encountered with tomato cultivation are mildew and apical necrosis. Protect your plants from rain to avoid mildew, and ensure regular watering to prevent apical necrosis. A Bordeaux mixture-based treatment can also be effective against downy mildew.
