Marketmore 76 Cucumber: an early, productive variety
SEO Description: Discover the Marketmore 76 Cucumber, an early and productive runner variety, offering thin-skinned fruit with crisp, bitter-free flesh. Learn how to sow, plant and care for this variety, as well as tips for optimizing your harvest.
An early and productive runner
The Marketmore 76 Cucumber is an early and productive runner. Its fruits, around 20 to 25 cm long, are distinguished by their thin, smooth skin. With firm, crunchy flesh, this variety is low in seeds and has a mild, pleasant flavor, with no bitterness.
Sowing and planting
Marketmore 76 cucumbers are sown in pots from March to May, before being transplanted into healthy, fresh, moist soil once the plants have developed three leaves and there is no risk of frost. They should be planted 60 cm apart, in rows 1.30 m apart, in sunny, warm locations. Regular watering is necessary to ensure good growth.
Tips for growing in confined spaces
Most cucumber varieties are short-lived, often taking up a lot of space. For small vegetable gardens, it's possible to grow them upwards, by guiding them along a wire fence for example. The tendrils of the cucumber plants will cling naturally to the support. This method provides better exposure to light, prevents fruit soiling and facilitates harvesting. It can also be used for gherkins.
