Complete guide to growing and protecting your Little Fingers eggplants
The Little Fingers eggplant is a hardy, productive and early variety, producing clusters of 3 to 4 beautiful bluish fruits of excellent eating quality.
Tips for successful sowing
For best results, sow your seeds in March/April in pots of fine potting soil, kept at a constant temperature of 25°C. Be sure to place them near a window and water lightly in case of drought.
Planting and care :
Transplant your seedlings into deep, humus-rich, sunny soil at the end of May. Hoe, weed and till regularly, watering at the base and pruning like tomatoes. Mulching is also recommended.
Beneficial associations :
Opt for growing eggplant next to bush beans for synergistic results.
Harvesting:
Allow around 5 months after sowing to harvest your Little Fingers eggplants.
Protection against pests :
Downy mildew: Prevent with nettle manure and horsetail tea, or treat with Bouillie Bordelaise as soon as the first symptoms appear.
Red spider mites: Remove the affected parts and use black soap or nettle manure as a treatment.
Colorado beetles: Pick them up by hand.
Aphids: Fight them with a solution based on black soap or nettle manure. In case of heavy infestation, a biological plant insecticide may be necessary.
