Red leaf lettuce: an old-fashioned curly variety that's delicious all season long
Red leaf lettuce is an old-fashioned variety with tender, very curly foliage, varying from dark red to green-brown. This lettuce is very attractive and tasty, ideal for use throughout the growing season. It can be harvested young as needed or whole, offering great flexibility to gardeners, especially those with small gardens.
Sowing advice :
Sow as early as February-March under cover, or from April to August outdoors champ.
Sow clearly in a nursery or under a frame, then transplant when the plants have a few leaves.
Choose a sunny exposure in fertile, humus-bearing, cool soil, spacing plants 20 cm apart in all directions.
Harvesting:
Red leaf lettuce can be harvested 6 to 8 weeks after sowing, from April to October. Take advantage of its curly, wavy leaves to liven up your salads and dishes all season long.
This variety of lettuce is not only aesthetically pleasing with its curly leaves, but also delicious, adding a touch of color and flavor to your garden and meals.
